I have been doing this procedure with several types of lasers for more than 25 years, and the technology has come a long way since it's initial launch. Like all laser treatments, the way it works is that the "color" of the laser has to be absorbed by the color of whatever you are treating. In the case of laser hair removal, it is the dark pigmented cells at the root of the target's hair. This means that red hair does not respond well, and white hair doesn't respond at all.
The target pigment cells are only present during certain stages of the hair cycle, which is why multiple treatments are required to obtain satisfactory degrees of hair removal. Once the hair has been adequately treated, I have yet to see it grow back again later.
We have different lasers available to allow us to do hair removal on all skin types, from fair-skinned to people of color. All areas of the body can be treated, and there is essentially no downtime after the treatments. We would be happy to schedule a consultation to discuss laser hair removal treatments with you.
