Mohs Procedure:

After numbing the area with a local anesthetic, the Mohs surgeon removes a layer of cancerous tissue. You receive a temporary bandage for the wound. Our well trained Mohs surgeon examines the tissue under a microscope in a lab within the office to determine the exact location of the cancerous cells and if all cancer has been completely removed. If necessary, the process will be repeated until no cancer cells remain. Your Mohs surgeon will work with you to determine the best reconstruction and closure options—based on the size, depth, and location of the tumor removed. You will schedule follow-up appointments for suture removal in 7-10 days. This is an outpatient procedure that requires only local anesthetic. With an expert surgeon and care team, this surgery is highly effective; it provides excellent cure rates and spares as much of the healthy skin and tissue as possible, ultimately leading to a smaller, less noticeable scar. Excisional Surgery:

Surgeries that do not require the finesse of Mohs surgery can be done as simple excisional surgery. This can be done for skin cancers when they are not on the face or benign lumps and bumps occurring anywhere on the skin. Typically, the surgeon will come and mark the area to be removed. The area will then being numbed up with local anesthetic making the rest of the procedure pain free. The surgery will then be carried out, the wound closed expertly and the wound dressing applied. Depending on the location, the sutures will be removed in 7-10 days. [ Make an appointment }
