Contact dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis are caused by an allergic reaction to something the skin has come in contact with over time. The reaction develops in the area where you are applying the product. You are not born with these allergies, you only develop them with exposure to the offending chemical. This means that you can develop an allergy to something you might have been using for several years. Simply switching to a different brand of the product may not change anything if it has the same offending chemical in its ingredients.
